Acts 16 - Series 02/Episode 12 - Wed, 17th June 2026 - God's word through visions - Acts 16:06-10 - THE MACEDONIAN CALL - Acts 22:17-21

(Welcome to my website: valentinedavidar.in)

Acts 16:8-9 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. (9) And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."

Paul was familiar with the way the Lord operated and spoke through visions. Acts 22:6-10 "Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me. (7) And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?' (8) So I answered, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said to me, 'I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.' (9) "And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of Him who spoke to me. (10) So I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all things which are appointed for you to do.' The entire ministry of Paul began with a vision from the Lord.

The next important move of God in Paul's life was again through a vision that the Lord gave Ananias. Acts 9:10-16 Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." (11) So the Lord said to him, "Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. (12) And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight." (13) Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. (14) And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name." (15) But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. (16) For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."_

Ananias was hesitant, but the Lord had to work deeply in Ananias and get him to go to Paul and move him on into the ministry.

Ananias revealed the vision of God for Paul and set him on the road to minister the Gospel. Act 22:14-16 Then he said, 'The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. (15) For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. (16) And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'

After hearing the vision of the Lord through Ananias, Paul presumed that he must join with the disciples in Jerusalem. The Lord once again appeared in a vision to him and changed the way he needed to do his ministry. Acts 22:17-21 "Now it happened, when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance (18) and saw Him saying to me, 'Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.' (19) So I said, 'Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believe on You. (20) And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by consenting to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.' (21) Then He said to me, 'Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.' "

Our ministry flows from the word of God. We live and move and have our being in God. We do not do our ministry in God's kingdom based on what our mind tells us. We seek His word constantly. We need God's constant affirmation in all that we do.

This was the affirmation that Jeremiah received to do God's ministry. Jeremiah 1:9-10 Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. (10) See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant."

Here is God's affirmation of His word. Psalms 33:6-9 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. (7) He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. (8) Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. (9) For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

God's word comes to us through visions as well.
