Acts 16 - Series 02/Episode 09 - Sun, 14th June 2026 - Preaching the Gospel - Acts 16:06-10 - THE MACEDONIAN CALL - II Corinthians 02:12
(Welcome to my website: valentinedavidar.in)
Acts 16:8-9 So passing by Mysia, *they came down to Troas*. (9) And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."
Bible scholars tell us that not all of Paul's travels are recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. II Corinthians 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, the Troas visit of II Corinthians 2:12 is the "middle visit". It is not the Acts 16 or Acts 20 visit.
Paul came to Troas to preach Christ's Gospel. This is our task. II Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
This is how the Lord saw His ministry. His food was to do the will of the Father. John 4:31-34 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." (32) But He said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know." (33) Therefore the disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?" (34) Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
Paul continued to preach as long as he could. Acts 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. Till the very end of his life, Paul was preaching the Gospel. Acts 28:30-31 Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, (31) preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.
The Lord made it very clear to us that we live in this world for only one reason, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mark 8:35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.
We should have no ambiguity regarding the Gospel. I Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, (2) by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. (3) For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (4) and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
People must believe in this Gospel of Jesus to be saved. John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (18) "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
We preach the Gospel so that Christ is formed in people. Colossians 1:28-29 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. (29) To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.
The Lord opens the door for us to preach the Gospel. Acts 14:27 Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. It is for us to knock on doors, but it is the Lord who opens the doors of the hearts of people.
Paul sensed that an effective door for ministry was opened to him by the Lord. He needed to press forward in that opening. I Corinthians 16:8-9 But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. (9) For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. When the Lord opens the doors for ministry, we must also be prepared that there will be adversaries. We need not be afraid of the opposition to the Gospel. Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.
Paul sought prayers for him for God to open doors for him to minister and share the Gospel. Colossians 4:2-4 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; (3) meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, (4) that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
