_John 13:36-38(01)_ PETER'S DENIAL OF CHRIST

(Joh 13:36) Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward."

(Joh 13:33) Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you.

John 14:4-10

This shows the shallowness of our reltionship with Jesus.

(Joh 14:28) You have heard Me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for My Father is greater than I.

(2Pe 3:9-12) The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (11) Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, (12) looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

(Mat 24:14) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

(Joh 16:28) I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father."

(Col 1:20) and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

(Joh 16:10) of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

(Joh 16:8) And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

(Rom 8:4) that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

(Joh 16:17) Then some of His disciples said among themselves, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"

(Joh 21:18-19) Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." (19) This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."

(2Pe 1:14) knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.

Simon Peter was operating in the flesh and not in the Spirit - Not moving along with the Lord in His teaching. Why is it that we are not in tune with the things of God but we are moving in the flesh? Since we are not in tune with the things of God we soon fall prey to the trap of the Devil.

(Joh 20:29) Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

(Joh 13:37-38) Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake." (38) Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.

(Php 2:13) for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

(Mat 16:21) From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Mat 16:22-23 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" (23) But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

(Joh 13:2) And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him,

Rom 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. (6) For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. (8) So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

(Joh 21:15-18) So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." (16) He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep." (17) He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep. (18) Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish."

(1Ti 1:16) However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

Luke 22:56-32

(Luk 22:57) But he denied Him, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him."

(Luk 22:58) And after a little while another saw him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"

(Luk 22:60) But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.
