*Inviting Jesus in* _Luke 13:1-9_

_Luke 13:7 Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?'_

The Lord is patient with us, not willing that any should perish. His forbearance with us is for us to bear fruit _Romans 2:4-5._

In the parable we see that the owner of vineyard came looking for fruit in the fig tree for three years. This shows that He is patient and compassionate and yet at the same time there will be time for reckoning.

When He expects results/ fruit out of our lives and yet we remain barren it causes the anger of God. We see here both His compassion as well as His anger. _Psalm 78:38 But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, And did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, And did not stir up all His wrath;_

Why is the Lord delaying His return? _II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance._

He is expecting the trees that He has planted to be fruit bearing. He does not want anyone to perish. We are the planting of the Lord _Isaiah 61:3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified._ We are to have the nature of Christ to love people as Jesus has loved us. This is fruit bearing.

He rebukes us because He loves us and He chastens us, so that we will be fruit bearing. Therefore we must repent, be converted and bear fruit. _Revelation 3:19-20 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent._ He must come in and take full control of our lives and hear fruit from within us. _(20) Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me._

*Thought to ponder*

```Will you invite Jesus in, so that He may have full control over your life?```
