Luke 11 24-26 Overcoming the evil one Overcoming the evil one 5
*Church to wage war against the enemy* _Luke 11:24-26_
Yesterday, we saw the frightening consequence, if after experiencing the truth and the Holy Spirit, we go back to the flesh.
Let us realise that we are new creations in Christ Jesus _II Corinthians 5:17._ This means that just as Adam and Eve were created by God, with all the inbuilt intrinsic worth of the image of God, so are we now in the world. The advantage that we have is that the Holy Spirit is now within us to empower us to live victoriously. This is the new covenant promise that was prophesied _Ezekiel 11:19-20, 36:26-27, Jeremiah 24:7, 31:33-34, 32:39-41._ We, therefore have no excuse whatsoever, for we have the experience and consequence of the life of Adam and Eve before us, as a warning, we have received forgiveness of sin by grace through faith by our Lord Jesus and then we have the Holy Spirit to empower us to walk victoriously over sin and satan. Is there anything that Jesus has left undone for us?
The church must live the victorious life and we are responsible to teach and train one another, in the body of Christ, to live victoriously for Jesus _II Timothy 2:25-26._
We are now undertaken by a new law, *the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus*. By the flesh we were not able to meet God’s righteous measure but God provided us the solution by sending His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh _I John 3:5._ This God did so that His righteous requirement would be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. The Spirit of God, brings the body of Jesus to be alive in us, by faith _Romans 8:2-4._
The flesh drives the mind, which is our world-view, our perception to life, our belief window to life. The mind determines our choices, feelings and our behaviour. The mind driven by the flesh is the carnal mind and the carnal mind is death. On the other hand, when we live in the new law of the Holy Spirit, He the Holy Spirit drives the mind. The mind, driven by the Holy Spirit is life and well being. The person, who is living out of a carnal mind, is an enemy of God. By the flesh we cannot please God _Romans 8:5-8._
We are now, no more in the flesh but in the Holy Spirit. This is our position that we need to deem, by faith. We must consider the body to be dead to sin and we are now alive to righteousness by the Holy Spirit _Romans 6:11-13._ The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, will also give life to our mortal bodies _Romans 8:9-11.
Surely, we can affirm along with Paul, “I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!...” _Rom 7:25._
