03 Acts 13 13-48 The teaching at the synagogue in Antioch of Pisidia 99 Acts 13 38-39 The message of forgiveness
99 – Thu, 07 Aug 2025 – *The message of forgiveness*- _Acts 13:13-48_ – THE TEACHING AT THE SYNAGOGUE IN ANTIOCH PISIDIA – _Acts 04:29-31_
_Acts 13:38-39 Therefore *let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins*; (39) and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses._
The message of the forgiveness of sins is to be made known to all men, for all have sinned. _Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,_
Man is therefore in desperate need to be forgiven by the one against whom we have sinned. God longs to forgive the sin of man. _Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. (19) He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea._
We considered repentance yesterday. For God to forgive us, we must repent before Him. _Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; *Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.*_ / _Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,_ / _I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness._
Consider the way the Lord longs to cleanse us. _Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool._
Is it not, therefore, necessary for us to share with all men that there is forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ? No one is righteous before God, and all need forgiveness. _Psalm 143:2 Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, *For in Your sight no one living is righteous*._
Without holiness, we cannot see the Lord; we cannot be reconciled with Him. _Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, *and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord*:_
Righteousness before God is only possible through faith in Jesus Christ. _Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, (22) even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;_ / _Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes._ / _Philippians 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;_
We cannot keep this message to ourselves, but have the responsibility to share it with all people. When we share this message with people, they become angry and devise ways to shut us down. _Acts 4:15-18 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, (16) saying, "What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. (17) But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name." (18) So they called them and *commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus*._
What was the response of Peter and John to this command from the leaders? _Acts 4:19-20 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. (20) For *we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard*."_
In this instance, the leaders threatened Peter and John and let them go. _Acts 4:21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done._
We know that the outcome has been different on other occasions. *The church has had to suffer much for sharing this precious news that there is forgiveness of sins only in Jesus Christ.*
Since the world is refusing to accept the truth that forgiveness of sins is only by faith in Jesus Christ, and they persecute us, will we stop sharing this message with the world? What should be our response?
Our response has to be the same as that of the first church in Jerusalem. _Acts 4:29-31 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and *grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word*, (30) by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." (31) And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and *they spoke the word of God with boldness.*_
```Let us share the message of forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ with boldness, knowing that persecution awaits.```
