52 – 11Jul2023 – *Continue to teach and preach Jesus* - _Acts 05:17-42_ - DID NOT CEASE TEACHING AND PREACHING JESUS - Bible reading: _Acts 20:18-21_

β€œLord Jesus, we pray that we will be rested in You and continue to teach and preach Jesus till the very end. In Your name, we pray. Amen,”

_Acts 5:41-42 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. (42) *And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.*_

The apostles were commanded and warned not to teach and preach in the name of Jesus but that was what they went out and promptly did.

This is a big lesson for His church in the current times. Our mind needs to be made up. We must be willing to be consumed by the name and gospel of Jesus. The time has come for us to decide where our lines will fall. _Acts 4:20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."_ / _Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world._

Gone are the times when we could live a non-committed, sitting-on-the-fence, world-also-God-also type of Christianity.

The Lord is separating the weeds from the wheat. Judgement will begin with the household of God. Those whose lives were not lived out for His kingdom purposes will be first pulled up and burned.

_Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' "_

_Matthew 13:40-42 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. (41) The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, (42) and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth._

The Lord is refining His church, so that we would offer sacrifices that are pleasing to Him. _Malachi 3:2-3 "But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire And like launderers' soap. (3) He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the LORD An offering in righteousness._

Therefore, just as the apostles and Paul, let us not cease teaching and preaching Jesus for this is our kingdom task here on earth.

_Acts 20:18-21 And when they had come to him, he said to them: "You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, (19) serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews; (20) how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and *taught you publicly and from house to house, (21) testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ*._

We are not sharing the message of Jesus as a duty or out of compulsion. We have tasted and known our Lord. We long that others too would know Him and that their joy would be full. _I John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of lifeβ€” (2) the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to usβ€” (3) that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. (4) And these things we write to you that your joy may be full._

The prayer of the early church was very clear. They prayed and asked the Lord for boldness to teach and preach Jesus. _Acts 4:29-31 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, (30) by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." (31) And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness._ The Lord answered their prayer with a powerful affirmation.

At this time, the authorities beat the apostles and let them go but we know that very soon there was severe persecution to His church. James was killed and they sought to lay hands on Peter.

There will be times when the Lord will rescue us from the hands of those who persecute us but there will also be times when the Lord will call us to lay down our lives. This was what took place with our Lord. _Luke 22:53 When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."_

```Let us give our lives into the hands of the Shepherd of our souls.```
