Luke 18 35-43 THE FAITH OF BARTIMAEUS 15 Reconciled us to reconcile others
14Nov2020 - *Reconciled us to reconcile others* - _Luke 18:35-43_ - THE FAITH OF BARTIMAEUS 15 – Bible reading: _Ephesians 3:9-11_
_Luke 18:43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. *And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God*._
Bartimaeus was thanking and glorifying the Lord Jesus for the wonderful miracle that had happened in his life. This is how it ought to be for us. Our life has to be a life of continuous praise and worship to our Lord for all that He has done in our lives.
It may be, right now, you are going through a crushing time but that does not stop you from thanking the Lord. Take a step back and look at life as a whole and you will see His faithfulness and goodness. Look even at the previous difficult experiences that you have been through. The Lord arranged it all for good. So, be thankful to the Lord.
Is this the end of the Bartimaeus story? No, it isn’t.
Unfortunately, this is how it is with many of us in the church. We are thankful to God for all that He has done for us. Many of us, if asked, will be more than willing to stand and testify to God’s goodness in our lives. The Lord is pleased with our sacrifice of thanksgiving.
The next step is what connects us with God’s wonderful plan and purpose.
God is drawing people and all of creation to Himself. _Ephesians 1:9-10 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, (10) that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times *He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him*._
_Colossians 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, (20) and *by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross*._
God is in the task of reconciling all people and all of creation to Himself. This was why He went to the cross. God’s heart is searching and seeking to bring back those who have wandered away from Him. When a man is restored back to God then that man is in the right position to bring back the rule of God, over all of God’s creation. God is, therefore, seeking to save the lost.
_John 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself."_
We have been healed and restored back to God to accomplish His purpose. _Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled_
What is our purpose here on earth? _Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven._
Our task is to shine for Jesus in order that people around us, our target audience, to whom God has assigned each of us as individuals, families and as the local church, will glorify God, for they see the magnificence of God in our lives.
*Bartimaeus’ life of praise was causing people around him to give praise to God*.
_II Corinthians 5:18-20 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, (19) that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (20) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God._
God is reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their sins against them. Picture the love of God, God would be justified in imputing man’s sin against him. We are today suffering the fall out of our rejection and rebellion of God. God would be justified, if He had left mankind to our predicament but God is pleading with man, through us, to be reconciled back with Him.
We as the church, Christ’ Ambassadors, are here to reconcile a lost and rebellious world to come back to the wellness of God.
_Ephesians 3:9-11 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; (10) to the intent that now *the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places*, (11) according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,_
The church is to engage with the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, for man to be released and reconciled to God.
*Thought to ponder*
```Are we living in the consciousness that our life here on earth is to be a conduit for people around us to glorify God?```
