Luke 13 1-9 Repent and bear fruit 09 Standing before the righteous judge
17Sep19 - Friend of God - *Standing before the righteous judge* _Luke 13:1-9_ - Bible reading: *Revelation 16:5-7*
_Luke 13:9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.'_
As we read this verse, we can sense a finality that is emerging. The Lord gives us time to bear fruit, He intercedes for us and He does everything else necessary for us to bear fruit. If after all that God has done for us, we still remain barren or bear thorns and briers, then the end will not be good.
_Hebrews 6:4-12 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, (5) and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, (6) if they fall away,_ (They are barren in their lives or being those who bear wild grapes) _to renew them again to repentance,_ (Repentance is needed from all of us, when we are not bearing good fruit) _since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. (7) For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;_ Our life is to be useful for the One, who has planted us. _(8) but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned._
Though the writer to the Hebrews has warned them, yet he wishes not discourage them but he is taking the effort to build them up. _(9) But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner._ He is commending them to God, who is the righteous judge. _(10) For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. (11) And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, (12) that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises._
The Lord is the righteous judge and we must stand before Him. _Revelation 15:3-4/ 16:7._
*Thought to ponder*
```We have a Judge, who longs that we will not have to face His righteous anger.```
