*The sacredness of sexuality within marriage* _Luke 11:33-36_
The matter of sexuality is an area of severe darkness in our world. The world wishes to promote all forms of sexual perversion calling it different forms of sexual orientation. The world is demanding that persons experiencing various types of sexual orientations must be allowed to freely practice their type and society must accept, approve and endorse these expressions. We are in a state of _free fall_ in this matter of sexuality.
How are we, as the church of Jesus, going to respond? This is our question, for we are called to be the light of our world and very importantly in the matter of sexuality.
_Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge._
Marriage is an institution set up by God and not by man. Marriage is an institution for one man and his one wife that was set up by God. Why is this so? Marriage is from God, for God is in a marriage relationship with His people. We say we are children of God _John 1:12/Romans 8:16/I John 3:1._ This is true. God is our Father but the relationship that God has with us and that which we have with God is more than just a parent-child/child-parent relationship. It is a relationship of a Husband and His wife. God is our Husband and we, the people of God, are His wife _Psalm 45/Isaiah 54:4-6/62:4-5/Jeremiah 2:2/3:1/3:20/Ezekiel 16/Hosea 2:16/2:19-20._
The book of Song of Solomon is an allegorical poem setting forth the mutual love of Christ and the Church, under the emblem of the Bridegroom and His bride.
*God therefore set up marriage as an honourable institution between one man and his one wife, as a demonstration, as a functional model, as a representation of His husband love and the mutual, reciprocal, faithful love that the bride or His people have towards Him.*
This is the purpose of marriage, which is a high and lofty relationship. This is why people coming into marriage cannot undertake this relationship lightly or ill advisedly but reverentially, prayerfully, duly considering the purpose for which marriage was ordained by God.
In this honourable institution of marriage, God gave the beautiful experience of sexuality for the man his wife to celebrate and enjoy their love and intimacy with one another. They, the husband his wife, need to therefore hold this experience with great care and tenderness. It is an exclusive relationship reserved only between the husband and his wife. The experience of sexuality cannot be taken out of this boundary, for God will judge the fornicator and the adulterer _Revelation 21:8/22:15/I Corinthians 6:9-10._
*Thought to ponder*
```Are we even clear about the purpose of marriage?```
