*God’s heart of compassion* _Luke 11:29-32_

The sign that Jesus would be to the people, would be the sign of Jonah, of His death, burial and resurrection. Yet, our Lord wanted the people to know that someone greater than Jonah was there with them _Luke 11:32._

What was the heart of God? God longs for wicked people, who are sinning against Him to repent. What do we see in our world? We see wicked people, continuing to sin and that defiantly, without any sense of remorse or shame. They are proud about the evil that they are doing and intend to continue to do so, even if they are caught and punished for it.

When we as Christians, forgive the wicked for the evil that they had perpetuated on us, the Christian community, across our world, we feel and think that we truly have represented our Lord Jesus. Yes, we have but let us see the heart of God.

God longs for the wicked to repent. This was why He sent Jonah to preach to the people of Nineveh that they would repent but look at the heart of Jonah. Jonah preached and the people repented but Jonah was angry. Why was Jonah angry? He wanted God’s wrath to come on the people of Nineveh, for the evil that they had done. (Nineveh was the capital of Assyria, a nation that was an enemy of Israel and had done much harm to Israel. If Nineveh would be punished then it would prove that God was with Israel).

_Friends, isn’t this our heart too? We may forgive the evil people, who have killed our loved ones but are we willing to pray that these wicked people, would repent and turn to God and that God would relent of His wrath against the wicked?_

God was not only wanting the people of Nineveh to repent and turn to Him, but our God was also reaching out to His servant, Jonah _Jonah 4:1-4/ vs 9-11._ God longed that Jonah would have the same heart as His, to want the wicked to repent and turn back to God and that God would relent from His righteous wrath that is against the wicked.

Isa 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

Isa 55:7-9 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. (8) "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. (9) "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Mat 18:33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?'
