Acts 16:10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.
We are sent out to preach the Gospel to people. The Gospel of Jesus is what brings about reconciliation and healing of all things. God is restoring all things to their original state, as He initially established them.
1. God created all things in harmony (original shalom)
2. Sin fractured that harmony.
3. Christ is restoring all things back to God's original design.
There is no other well-being of man and creation outside of the Gospel. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that we live and die only for the Gospel. Mark 8:35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.
When God created all things, indeed, it was all very good. Genesis 1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
God's very character and nature are represented in His creation so that all His attributes can be seen. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, Even though sin in man has marred creation, God's character can still be understood through creation.
As Paul and the team decided to move to Macedonia, they went with joy, for the message that they were giving to the people of Macedonia was the most important.
God created all things for man to inhabit the earth. Isaiah 45:18 For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.
The word inhabit is yashab (yaw-shab). The implication is that the creation is to be married. Isaiah 62:4-5 You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the LORD delights in you, And your land shall be married. (5) For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you. Marriage is a covenant relationship, and that is how God desired for us to be related to His creation.
Many make the mistake of saying that God cursed creation. That is not true because God blessed His creation. Psalms 19:1-3 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. (2) Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. (3) There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
The terrible things that we see today in creation are the consequences of our sin and not because of a curse from God. Genesis 3:17-19 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. (18) Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. (19) In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."
It is from this tragic state that the Lord is restoring all things through the Gospel. Ephesians 1:9-10 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, (10) that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth-in Him.
This is the picture of the new earth. Isaiah 11:6-10 "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them. (7) The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox. (8) The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den. (9) They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea. (10) "And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious."
