(Welcome to my website: valentinedavidar.in)

Acts 16:14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.

Lydia heard the message of the Gospel spoken by Paul not just with physical hearing, but with her inner ears. This is what brought about a change in her heart to receive the Gospel.

Our Lord repeatedly called the people to hear Him with their inner ears. Mark 4:3 "Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. / Mark 4:9 And He said to them, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

After Jesus had spoken the parable to the multitude, a small group came to Him, wanting to know the meaning of the parable. Mark 4:10 But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable.

These were those who heard the parable with their inner ears, and their hearts were stirred. The Lord called them blessed. Matthew 13:16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;

Then the Lord explained to those who sought the meaning of the parable why they were blessed. They were given the privilege to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God. To those who hear the word of God only with their physical ears, the message of God remains just a parable. Mark 4:11 And He said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables,

The frightening outcome is that they will not perceive or understand the things of the kingdom of God. Then comes the shocking statement. Since they are not perceiveing nor understanding the things of the kingdom of God, they will not turn to God for their sins to be forgiven. Mark 4:12 so that 'SEEING THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND HEARING THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND; LEST THEY SHOULD TURN, AND THEIR SINS BE FORGIVEN THEM.' "

God longs for all men to repent and turn to Him. II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. / I Timothy 2:3-4 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, (4) who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. This desire of the Lord will not be fulfilled if we do not hear the word of God with our inner ears.

He who is of God hears the voice of God with his inner ears. John 8:47 He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God." This leads us to the truth of predestination. Romans 8:28-30 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (29) For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (30) Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. We must speak and share the word of God, and there will be the ones who are of God in different contexts who will respond to the voice of God.

The called ones are also known as the elect of God. Paul was willing to endure all things for the sake of the called, that they would hear the word with their inner ears and respond to God. II Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Lydia was 'the called' of God. Paul and the team spoke the message of the Gospel. She heard the message of God with her inner ears, and she responded to God.

It is only those who hear the word of God with their inner ears who will perceive and understand the Gospel. They will repent and believe in the Gospel. They are the sheep of God, who hear His voice with their inner ears and follow Him. John 10:26-27 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. (27) My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

There are the sheep of God, all over the world, who must hear the message of the Gospel. They will hear with their inner ears, repent and believe in the Gospel. John 10:16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

Faith in God comes from hearing the word of God with our inner ears. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
