*FRIEND OF GOD*
04June2021 - *The finale* - _Luke 21:20-24_ - WATCH AND PRAY III (12) – Bible reading: _Daniel 7:13-14_
The Lord is bringing all things and this age to a dramatic and glorious closure. Nations are being drawn towards God. People from all over the world are seeking the God of Jacob. The Jews, God’s chosen race, will be central in this final move of God.
Today, we can see how the Gentiles, are being joined with God. The God of heaven and earth, whom the Jews knew for all these centuries, but of whom, we the Gentiles are now getting to know.
_Luke 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles *until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled*._
The end of the age is when the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. The closure of this age is taking place and *we are called to watch and pray* and not be troubled or deceived by the deceptions that are rampant, during this time.
_Isaiah 2:1-5 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. (2) Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the LORD's house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it._
The mountain of the Lord’s house is the habitation of God with men. God chose the Jewish race to be a testimony to the world of a people amongst whom the God of all creation, would reside. The Jews rejected God but they are still His people. There will come a time when the Jews will return to God and acknowledge Him and His Son, the Lord Jesus, whom He sent.
_(3) Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem._
It is the Jews to whom the oracles of God were given. They have the right understanding of the laws of God, their interpretations and their application. They will correctly teach the nations the ways of God.
_(4) He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. (5) O house of Jacob, come and let us walk In the light of the LORD._
This is the picture of the new kingdom, where Jesus will reign as King and His people, both Jews and Gentiles will reign with Him. The Jews will be a central and essential part of the final closure that God is bringing about. The Gentiles are coming in, in large numbers to the God of Jacob and the Lord is setting up His kingdom.
_Daniel 7:13-14 “I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. (14) Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, *That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him*. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed._
We need to focus our attention on the final closure that God is bringing about where Jews and Gentiles would come together and reign along with Jesus in His glorious kingdom.
Let us not be confused or in anxiety over all that is happening in our world today. Let us keep our eyes on what God is doing in bringing the Gentiles into His everlasting kingdom, where we will reign alongside the Jews.
_Daniel 7:18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.'_
_Zechariah 8:20-23 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Peoples shall yet come, Inhabitants of many cities; (21) The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, "Let us continue to go and pray before the LORD, And seek the LORD of hosts. I myself will go also." (22) *Yes, many peoples and strong nations Shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, And to pray before the LORD*.' (23) "Thus says the LORD of hosts: '*In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you*." ' "_
This is God’s work. Gentiles, nations from all over the world, will seek the God of Jacob. The Gentiles are recognizing that we must seek God alongside the Jews. God’s plan is for both Jews and Gentiles to reign with Him but the Jews are the ones, who will be the teachers of the ways of the eternal God.
Apostle Paul is writing to the Gentiles.
_Eph 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, (5) even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and *raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus*,_
This is about reigning with Jesus. Paul is writing to the Gentiles that we will rule with God and that rule of God has already begun. This is the picture that must grip our hearts.
_(7) that *in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace* in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus._
The times of the Gentiles is being fulfilled. Both Jews and Gentiles will reign eternally with Jesus.
