One last thought as we conclude this study. The disciples were not aligned with the Lord as He repeatedly revealed to them that He would be crucified, buried and raised again. Their minds were only considering Him as the Messiah, who will establish His kingdom.

 

We, on the other hand, have received the benefits of the cross but our partnership with Him as His vice-regents to bring in the kingdom rule of God, into God’s creation, is a domain that we are reluctant to enter into. We prefer to hold on to the position that the kingdom rule of God will be established when the Lord returns. Till then, we live and share the gospel of personal salvation to people around us.  

 

_Luke 18:34 But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken._ 

 

_Mark 9:31-32 For He taught His disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day." (32) But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him._ 

 

There is no excuse for us, for not knowing the things that are spoken of Him. We are to see the full picture. We must see the cross but we must also see that God is reconciling all things that are in heaven and that which is on earth, back to Him, through the cross.  

 

_Colossians 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, (20) and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross._ 

The Holy Spirit, reveals to us the full message of God. Jesus left with us, the Helper, the Holy Spirit and He will guide us into a full understanding of all things that are spoken of Him. _John 14:25-26 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. (26) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you._ 

 

_John 16:13-14 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (14) He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you._ 

 

The Holy Spirit takes from the heart of God and brings the understanding of all things that are spoken of Him, to us. _I Corinthians 2:10-12 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (11) For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God._  

 

Our spirit, the spirit of man, knows our thoughts and our mind. In the same way, the Spirit of God knows the mind of God. Isn’t it so thrilling and mind-blowing that we have access to the mind of God through the Spirit of God? We, therefore, have no excuse for not knowing the things that are spoken of Him, especially since we are living at the end of this age and we will soon need to stand before the judgement seat of God, to give an account of what we have understood in life and to what purpose did we live for.  

 

_(12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God._

 

We need to keep in mind that we do not function in a vacuum. If we are not in tune with the Spirit of God, through whom we are able to know the things that are in the mind of God, then the spirit of the world will infiltrate our understanding. There has to be intentionality on our part to be in surrender, submission, with an attitude to learn and understand, as we engage with the Holy Spirit.  

 

Finally, the glorious message from God to us is that we are His covenant people. _Jeremiah 31:33-34 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. (34) No more shall every man teach his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."_ 

 

The Lord has made all the provision for us to know the things that are spoken of Him. What will be our response to Him?

```God’s heart breaks for us that although He has made all the provision for the church to be His kingdom people, in our age, we still remain in our stupor of seeking God only for our personal end.```
