24Jul2020 - *Set free* - _Luke 17:7-10_ - AN UNPROFITABLE DOULOS OF JESUS CHRIST 14 β Bible reading: _Galatians 4:6-7_
_Luke 17:10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.' "_
As an unprofitable Doulos of Jesus Christ, the Master owes us nothing but we owe Him our all. For persons such as us, He gave His life to redeem us. We are redeemed bondslaves, purchased by His precious blood.
We have been brought into the custody of God in order that we will be slaves of righteousness. Earlier we were slaves of sin and free from righteousness but now being an unprofitable Doulos of Jesus, we become slaves of righteousness and free from sin.
_Romans 6:18-22 and that you, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. (19) I am speaking in human terms because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness for sanctification. (20) When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. (21) So what advantage did you then get from the things of which you now are ashamed? The end of those things is death. (22) But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage you get is sanctification. The end is eternal life._
By being slaves of sin and free from righteousness, what did it give us? It gave us death. Now, we have been freed from sin by what Jesus did for us on the cross, which we received by faith through His grace, we became the unprofitable Doulos of God and freed from sin. What has this position given us? It gives us sanctification and the result, eternal life.
Consider and savour the plan of God. We were slaves of sin. Jesus redeemed us by His precious blood. He brought us into His guardianship. We have and are now His unprofitable Doulos. As an unprofitable Doulos of Jesus, we are set free from sin but become slaves of righteousness. Being slaves of righteousness causes us our sanctification. Sanctification results in eternal life. This is the grand plan and work of God.
From being an unprofitable Doulos of Jesus, He lifts us higher. _Romans 8:14-17 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. (15) For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, "Abba! Father!" (16) it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (17) and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christβif, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him._
He adopts us as His children. We who are the unprofitable Doulos of Jesus are now made sons and daughters of God and we can call Him (embrace Him) as, βAbbaβ. Being the children of God is not just a place of belonging to the family of God, we are also entitled to be His heirs and joint-heirs with Christ.
Take a moment to delight in the goodness of God.
_Galatians 4:6-7 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" (7) Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ._
Our liberty in Christ, calls us to surrender ourselves to Him, wholly, as His unprofitable Doulos. This infers that we are forfeiting our rights to ourselves altogether. Our time, talents, treasure and our relationships are no more ours. It belongs completely to God; we are entirely accessible to Him. This freedom from ourselves but being bonded to God releases us to serve the body of Christ, wholeheartedly and without reservation.
_Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another._
Since we have been released from sin and the self and are now His, let us stand fast in the liberty that God has given us and not go back to the entanglements of the flesh and the world. _Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage._
*Thought to ponder*
```Where are the 'truly free' amongst us?```
