_Luke 15:4-6 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? (5) And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. (6) *And when he comes home*, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'

We have titled the 15th chapter of Luke as *To seek and to save the lost*. This is the heart of God and this is how our heart needs to be too. The Lord was deeply concerned for the Pharisees and the Scribes for they were not in tune with the heart of God, which is to seek and the save the lost. He is God, who seeks us, finds us, carries us, He rejoices over us and He then brings us home.

When we come home, the host of heaven rejoices. Yet in the seventh verse, we see the mention of 99 just persons, who need no repentance. What do we understand here?

_Luke 15:7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance._ The Lord is giving this entire teaching to the Pharisees and Scribes.

What was the problem with the Pharisees? _Luke 18:9-11 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: (10) “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. (11) The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector._ The problem with the Pharisees was that they trusted themselves and their own achievements, to be acceptable before God. They saw themselves above others and did not need God to seek and find them.

The Lord was wanting them to have a turnaround just as Paul. _Philippians 3:6-7 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. (7) But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ._

We find that the majority are in this category. They want to come to God on their own terms and not as those, who are lost and needing to be sought and found by God.

What prevented the Pharisees from believing Jesus? _John 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; (43) for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God._

The opinion of men mattered for the Pharisees more than the praise from God. Friends, this is where we need to guard our hearts. Are we those, who seek the praise of men?

*Thought to ponder*

```The attitude of the Pharisees is the attitude of the majority, but what will it be for you? To be a part of the majority or with the minority?```
