07Oct19 - *Bridges for the truth* - _Luke 13:10-17_ - Bible reading: _II Timothy 2:25-26_

_Luke 13:14-17 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, "There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day." (15) The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? (16) So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?" (17) And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him._

Besides the leader of the synagogue there were others there, who were against Christ but the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Jesus. Yes the multitudes followed Him, they praised Him, they listened to Him and loved Him but at the time of the crucifixion, they also cried crucify Him or kept silent at the injustice that was meted out to Him. Let us never be swayed by the praises of the multitude. Jesus was not.

As God’s people, here are some principles that we need to keep in mind as we interact with the world around us.

_I Peter 3:15-16 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts,_ (set apart Christ as Lord) _and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you,_ (Be clear of the doctrines of the Christian faith in order to explain to people in language that people can understand) _with meekness and fear;_ (Always in humility) _(16) having a good conscience,_ (Being right before God and man) _that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed._ (Do not surprised at the evil that the world will do to us)

_Colossians 4:5-6 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside,_ (Live by the Spirit of God) _redeeming the time._ (Live according to God’s time and not what is important to us) _(6) Let your speech always be with grace,_ (Speak words that does not come from the self but based on God) _seasoned with salt,_ (influencing lives) _that you may know how you ought to answer each one._

_II Timothy 2:25-26 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,_ (We always desire that people will turn and come to the truth) _(26) and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will._
