*Producing good fruit* _Luke 13:1-9_

_Luke 13:6 He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none…”_

The repentance and the conversion that is expected of us is of no more living on our own authority but under the authority of His word applied in us. This is how we abide in Christ. The evidence of us abiding in Christ is that we will bear fruit. _John 15:7-8 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. (8) By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples._

_John 15:10-17 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. (11) "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. (12) This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you._ His commandment for us is that we love one another the way He loved us.

_(13) Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends._ The standard of His love for us is that He lays down His life for us.

_(14) You are My friends if you do whatever I command you._ The friendship with Jesus is very different. We are His friends, when we obey Him. He is our friend for He gave His life for us.

_(15) No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you._ As His friends, we live on the basis of God’s revelation to us. We live in surrender to His revelation.

_(16) You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. (17) These things I command you, that you love one another._ Fruit bearing is living out the life of Jesus, which is to love one another the way He loved us.

God’s heart breaks because He chose us, that we bear much fruit and good fruit. He comes looking for good fruit in our lives and alas what a disappointment we are to Him. _Isaiah 5:1-4 Now let me sing to my Well-beloved A song of my Beloved regarding His vineyard: My Well-beloved has a vineyard On a very fruitful hill. (2) He dug it up and cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring forth good grapes, But it brought forth wild grapes. (3) "And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, Judge, please, between Me and My vineyard. (4) What more could have been done to My vineyard That I have not done in it? Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, Did it bring forth wild grapes?_

*Thought to ponder*

```The reason He delays in His return is because He does not want any of us to perish.```
