Jesus is the Judge
07 – 17Nov2023 – *Jesus is the Judge* - _Acts 07:54-60_ - STEPHEN SLEPT IN THE LORD - Bible reading: _John 05:22-27_
_Acts 7:55-56 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, *and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, (56) and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"*_
_…Jesus standing at the right hand of God…_
Jesus standing at the right hand of God implies here that He continues in the presence of God. This standing in the presence of God gives us an understanding of who He is.
We have seen that Jesus became the Son of Man for our sake and redeemed us from the clutches of the evil one. He has now, once again, gone back to His position to be the express image of the person of God. _Hebrews 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,_
The letter to the Hebrews is a treatise to show us how Jesus, being at the right hand of God, was our High Priest. _Hebrews 8:1 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,_
Jesus continues forever in an unchangeable priesthood. _Hebrews 7:24-28 But *He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. (25) Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them*. (26) For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; (27) who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people's, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. (28) For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, *appoints the Son who has been perfected forever*._
Jesus standing at the right hand of God gives us the privilege to come into the holy of holies, into the very presence of God. _Hebrews 10:19-21 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, (20) by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, (21) and having a High Priest over the house of God,_
We have the confidence to enter the Holiest and be in constant communion with God. _Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water._ Even at the very end of his life, Stephen was still sharing the Gospel message by stating that Jesus was standing at the right hand of God.
Jesus, standing at the right hand of God also tells us that all authorities and powers are subject to Him. _Psalms 110:1-2 A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, *"Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."* (2) The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!_
We must know that Jesus reigns over all, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. _Ephesians 1:20-21 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, (21) far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come._
Jesus standing at the right hand of God is a picture of victory for His church. The fullness of the Lord’s authority and reign over His enemies has now been made available to His church. _Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, (23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all._
The church must embrace and operate out of her glorious position of victory that Jesus has over His enemies.
Jesus is the Son of Man and to Him all judgement has been entrusted by the Father. _John 5:22-27 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, (23) that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. (24) "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (25) Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. (26) For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, (27) and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man._
```When we see Jesus standing at the right hand of God, we must know that He is the judge to whom all of us will have to give account.```
