Acts 17:8 And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things.
The message of the Gospel brings healing to the soul. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
The Lord gives to us good things. Psalms 103:2-5 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: (3) Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, (4) Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, (5) Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. He heals us and binds up our wounds. I Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness-by whose stripes you were healed. / Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
Nothing can separate us from God's love for us. Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, (39) nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God's word is eternal and will never pass away. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
When this is the truth of the Gospel, then why is the world in anguish against the Gospel? Yes, we have understood that the devil has blinded the minds of unbelievers. II Corinthians 4:3-4 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, (4) whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
People do not want to be confronted. Deep within, man prefers darkness rather than light. John 3:19-20 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (20) For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
Sin has a devastating effect on us. We are now under the law of sin. Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. This law of sin and death in us brings us into such a deep slavery that we have no way to come out. Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
The mind can be controlled either by the flesh or by the Spirit of God. Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. The mind controlled by the flesh leads to death. Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. This mind, led by the flesh, is in enmity against God. Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
Man does not want to be subject to the rule of God. Psalms 2:1-3 Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? (2) The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, (3) "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." The truth that man must reckon with is that Jesus has authority over every ruler. Ephesians 1:20-21 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, (21) far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Today, nations are rejecting the message of the Gospel and trying to shut down the Gospel. One day everyone will have to confess Jesus as Lord. Philippians 2:10-11 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, (11) and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
