*Overcoming the clutches of the evil one* _Luke 11:24-26_

God desires that we live in the glorious liberty that we have in Christ Jesus _Romans 6:22._

Nevertheless, satan is active here on earth and there are several evil spirits, who are working separately as well as in tandem, to destroy man. We cannot be ignorant of the ways of the devil _II Corinthians 2:11._

This is the generation amongst whom the Lord has placed us so that we will live victoriously over the evil one, as well as rescue many others, who are in the clutches of the devil _Matthew 12:45._

Satan's agenda is to possess or take control of people. People are his habitat. He needs flesh and blood to operate and so he uses man as his carrier. He goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour, for he is restless and he needs a habitation _I Peter 5:8._ He therefore walks about, to and fro on the earth, in order to take people under his control and dictate their lives _Job 1:7/2:2._

We see an example of this activity of satan, with Simon Peter. Satan wanted to sift Simon as wheat but the Lord was praying for Simon. _We must remember that our Lord is always praying for us, as we live on earth, so that we overcome the evil one John 17:15, 18. What does our Lord pray for us? He is praying that our faith in Him should not fail _Luke 22:31-32._ It is necessary for us to exercise our faith in Him, in order for the Lord to hedge us and protect us.

God challenged satan, regarding Job. Satan was not considering Job to devour him because Job feared God and God, in response, had placed an enclosure around Job and had blessed him _Job 1:8-10/2:3._

When a person does not fear and have faith in God, the result is frightening. Satan takes control of the person’s life. This was what happened with Judas Iscariot _John 13:2_ and with Ananias _Act 5:3._ Praise the Lord that Simon Peter turned back and placed his faith in Jesus. He then became a blessing to others.

Satan’s activity around us is very real and we cannot be foolishly, ignorant of his ways. We need to remain in our fear of God, trusting Him in all our ways, for if we think we are good in ourselves, we are in serious danger to be overcome by the evil one.

*Thought to ponder*

```I John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.```
