Acts 17:5-6 But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. (6) But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too._

The rioters sought for the apostles in the house of Jason but did not find them there. They dragged Jason and the believers in his house to the rulers of the city and laid their accusation. "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too, and Jason has harboured them"

Jason and the other believers were being grouped with the apostles as though they had turned the world upside down. We are seen by the world as one. We are also seen as those who represent God, and the world expects all of us to hold the same character and nature. When the world looks at the church, it does not distinguish between "new believers" and "apostles," "mature" and "immature," "leaders" and "followers." We are all seen as one people, one body, one witness, and one representation of God.

Genesis 13:7-8 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land. (8) So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren.

Abram was conscious of being in the land of the Canaanites and the Perizzites. He had to settle the dispute in such a way that the people of the land would know that this is the behaviour of God's people; they are one, and this is because of the God whom they worship.

I Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

Imagine if different parts of a body did not act in cohesion and oneness. The body would be a weird monster. We are expecting people to come and join us in the church. If there is a lack of oneness among us, how will they join us? They will flee from us.

The oneness that we represent is not what we create among ourselves. We are members of the body of Christ. We live out Christ from our oneness as His body. John 17:21-23 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. (22) And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: (23) I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. This oneness in the body of Christ is our witness to the world about Christ.

When there is a lack of oneness in the body of Christ, then we are displaying a marred picture of Christ to the world. Romans 12:4-5 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, (5) so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. We are individually members of one another in the body of Christ. It is the responsibility of each of us to nurture one another and ensure that each of us is functioning at our very best for the body to be performing at its optimum.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. / Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. / Philippians 2:15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. We are like a city set on a hill. The lights of a city set on a hill comprise individual lights, but also have the corporate effect of all the lights shining together.

We endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit of God. Ephesians 4:1-4 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, (2) with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, (3) endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (4) There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;

Learning: We are all seen as one body
