Acts 17:15 So those who conducted Paul brought him to Athens; and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed
Apostle Paul cultivated oneness. Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, The triune God created us in Their image and likeness. The oneness within the Trinity has been given to us. We are blessed with the oneness of the triune God.
This oneness among us in God is what the devil hates. The devil counterfeits this oneness by making us have oneness without God. The tower of Babel is an example. (Genesis 11:1-9) Oneness among us is in our oneness in God. Colossians 3:11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
Oneness is possible when we continuously die with Christ and experience His life being lived out from us. Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. / Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives i; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. / II Corinthians 4:10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
The self in us will manifest in different ways. It is the display of the fallen nature that we have inherited from Adam's fall. When we recognise the self, asserting itself in us, it is the Holy Spirit who is alerting us. This is the precious work of God in us. The Holy Spirit welcomes, invites and pleads with us to experience dying and living with Christ, by faith, in Him. Thus, every day and several times during the day, we have the precious privilege of interacting and growing with the Holy Spirit. II Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, (4) who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
We then move to the level of proactively working with others and together witness the life of Christ manifesting in us, as His body. Philippians 2:3-8 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (4) Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. (5) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, (6) who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, (7) but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. (8) And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
We are to look out for the interests of others. It is only when we look out for the interests of others that the best from within each of us will appear. This is what our Lord Jesus did for us. He looked out for our interests. He gave His all for us so that our interests would be met. It is in the same way that He expects us to live for others. John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (35) By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
As the body of Christ, we are His disciples. Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. What is our cross? The cross for Jesus was His purpose to die for us by becoming the sacrificial lamb that would pay for our sin and bring us to righteousness before God. Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." / Hebrews 10:9-10 then He said, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD." He takes away the first that He may establish the second. (10) By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Each of us has a cross that we must carry and fulfil in our lifetime. We must also be conscious of the crosses that others are carrying in the body of Christ. We encourage, facilitate and support one another in the body of Christ to carry their cross.
Paul facilitated this process in the lives of others.
