17Apr2021 - *The Holy Spirit cleanses our inner man* - _Luke 20:41-47_ - CHRIST, THE SON OF DAVID (9) – Bible reading: _Psalm 139:23-24_

Our kingship is in the lineage of David. We are priests and kings before God.

Relationship with God is about who we are in the inner man. It is in the inner man that we need to be surrendered to God. It is here that we can become enemies of God. We need to be seeking God’s healing in our inner man.

*Luke 20:42-43 Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, " SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, (43) TILL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL."*

Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit. This was revealed to Peter by the Holy Spirit. What this couple and Barnabas did was the same, externally, in the eyes of people.

We must remember that our kingship in the lineage of David is not like the kings of the world but this is kingship before God and it is to Him that we are answerable.

We must cultivate a willingness to always look into our hearts to see who we are in the eyes of God and there be cleansed by God. This is what will happen at the judgement. The Lord will judge our hearts.

_I Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both *bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts*. Then each one's praise will come from God. Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God will bring every work into judgment, *Including every secret thing*, Whether good or evil._

The secret things are the what will be the matter on which God will judge us.

_Romans 2:16 in the day when *God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ*, according to my gospel._

Engaging with the word of God is where we will be healed in the inner man. _Hebrews 4:12-13 For *the word of God* is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and *is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart*. (13) And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and *open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account*._

It is a privilege to engage and interact with the word of God. For God’s word, like a mirror, will show us who we are in the inner man and will convict us of the issues of our heart. This can happen only when we are open to the word of God. If we read the word as a formality, as a habit and as a routine that we must follow, then we will not benefit from God’s word.

We must come to God’s word with eagerness and openness in our heart saying, “Lord, please correct me through your word”.

The Holy Spirit also cleanses us in the inner man. How can we let the Holy Spirit cleanse us? What should we do?

Usually, when we are hurt by what happens to us or by what others do to us, we start sulking, we go into self-pity and we also look for shoulders to cry and weep on and pour out our hurts.

Yes, we do take the matter to God in prayer but we don’t normally leave it there and the issue continues to be a festering wound. Time does place a lid over the matter but if for any reason we are reminded of the issue then the matter is as fresh as ever, before us.

The Bible teaches us to embrace the hurt and allow the hurt to be the place for personal cleansing. Ask the Lord to show you if there are issues in your heart, where His healing needs to take place and the Lord will reveal it to you. Deal with your heart and you will experience wonderful healing and cleansing.

_Proverbs 20:30 *Blows that hurt cleanse away evil*, As do stripes the inner depths of the heart. Hebrews 12:11-12 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; *nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it*. (12) Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees,_

As we cultivate our conscience, our spirit within us will prompt, warn and correct us in the areas of the inner man. _Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart._

Always be open to the Holy Spirit to cleanse us within. _Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; (24) And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart._

*Thought to ponder*

When we are open to the Holy Spirit. He will heal our inner man.
