01 โ 23Feb2022 โ Demonstrating the resurrection of Jesus - Luke 24:01-08 - HE IS RISEN - Bible reading: I Peter 2:4-10
โThank You, Lord Jesus, You have risen from the dead so that we who were dead, could be alive with You. Thank You that we as the church can live out the resurrected life of Christ. We commit ourselves into Your loving hands. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.โ
We are now entering the exciting study of Luke 24:1-8 which we will title as HE IS RISEN.
Luke 24:1-8 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. (2) But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. (3) Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (4) And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. (5) Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? (6) He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, (7) saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' " (8) And they remembered His words.
Yesterday, we saw that the enemies of the cross of Christ, saw the resurrection of Jesus being a bigger threat than having Jesus living physically.
Matthew 27:64-66 Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So *the last deception will be worse than the first." (65) Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how." (66) So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.*
We are no more living a life of knowing Christ in the flesh but we now know Him as One who is alive in us, in His Spirit. We are resurrected in Christ.
The women and the disciples did not comprehend resurrection in the way the Lord meant it. Resurrection, to them, was only in the hereafter, not in the present.
I Corinthians 15:42-49 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. (43) It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. (44) It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. (45) And so it is written, " THE FIRST MAN ADAM BECAME A LIVING BEING." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit . (46) However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. (47) The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. (48) As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. (49) And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
The body of Jesus is now alive in the church. Jesus has risen and He is revealing Himself through the church. The church is the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, (23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
We have identified and reckoned with His crucifixion and burial. We now identify and reckon that we are resurrected with Christ.
God formed Adam out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and he became a living being (Genesis 2:7) The Spirit of God within us was what made us be living beings. Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Sin brought death on us because the Spiritual part of us was alienated from God.
Since Jesus rose from the dead, we are being made alive again, in Christ. The last Adam, Jesus Christ, became a life-giving Spirit.
Resurrection is not just that Jesus rose from the dead but He arose so that we who were dead, would come back to where we were originally created to be. Created to be alive in God .
Our enemy does not want us, the church, to identify and reckon with our resurrection in Christ.
We are living stones , built together with Christ, who is our chief cornerstone.
I Peter 2:4-10 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, (5) you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (6) Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHIEF CORNERSTONE, ELECT, PRECIOUS, AND HE WHO BELIEVES ON HIM WILL BY NO MEANS BE PUT TO SHAME." (7) Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, "THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED HAS BECOME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE," (8) and "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE." They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. (9) But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (10) who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Thought to ponder
We are demonstrating the resurrection of Jesus.
