05 – 27Feb2022 – Do not look for the living among the dead - Luke 24:01-08 - JESUS HAS RISEN - Bible reading: Ephesians 1:18-23

“Thank You, Lord Jesus, because You have risen from the dead, a victorious life is made available to us. We praise You and commit ourselves into Your loving hands. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.”

Let us consider the message of the angels to the women.

Luke 24:4-8 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. (5) Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? (6) He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, (7) saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' " (8) And they remembered His words.

The question that the angels asked the women was, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?”

This message of the angels to the women was, “You have come here to anoint the body of Jesus. You should have known that He would rise again. You were all so close to Him but you never believed that He would rise from the dead, though He had made His resurrection known to you on several occasions”.

This is the question that must cause us to fall on our faces before God, with repentance, since many of us are still living in the old paradigm of the dead. We have not come into resurrection.

Jesus being alive brings about several major shifts in life. The Lord longs for us to come out of our old life and live in the exciting dimension of the resurrection.

Let us look at two important realities that are made available for us because of His resurrection.

Hebrews 7:21-25 (for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him: "THE LORD HAS SWORN AND WILL NOT RELENT, 'YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK' "), (22) by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant. (23) Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. (24) But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. (25) Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Jesus has been given an unchangeable priesthood. Since He lives forever, He is able to save us, to the uttermost, from every trap of the flesh, the world and the devil. We can live victoriously in all circumstances because Jesus is no more dead but He is alive.

Romans 8:34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Jesus is not only the priest who lives forever but He is also the King, whose kingdom is forever.

Isaiah 22:22 The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So he shall open, and no one shall shut; And he shall shut, and no one shall open.

This is the everlasting kingdom that has been given to Jesus.

Daniel 7:14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

We, therefore, belong to Jesus who has an unchangeable priesthood and whose kingdom has no end.

Revelation 1:5-6 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, (6) and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Since Jesus is alive, our position now changes, entirely. He has made us be kings and priests with Him. He has given us an unchangeable priesthood and an everlasting kingdom,

Matthew 16:18-19 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (19) And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

This is the awesome privilege that has been given to the church because Jesus has risen. Why are we still looking for the living among the dead?

This is Paul’s message to the church.

Ephesians 1:18-23 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, (19) and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (20) which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, (21) far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. (22) And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, (23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

We, the church, belong to Jesus, who has risen. We are the fullness of Christ.

Thought to ponder

If you are still carrying your spices and ointments that represent death, you are confirming that you have not come into resurrection.
