04 – 26Feb2022 – Resurrection gives us a new mission - Luke 24:01-08 - JESUS HAS RISEN - Bible reading: Matthew 28:7-8

“Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are moving us to the place where we are in the relationship of resurrection with You and on a new mission that You are entrusting to us. We give You all the glory and praise and in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

Luke 24:4-8 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. (5) Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? (6) He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, (7) saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' " (8) And they remembered His words.

The Lord was waiting for these women to come, with the stone rolled away, the guards as dead men, and the body of the Lord, missing. The Lord was waiting for these women to come and experience resurrection. The Lord was waiting for them with a powerful experience of the angels.

The women had come with the spices and ointments to anoint the body of Jesus but now they were shaken up to be a part of an entirely new mission in life. Resurrection will script a new mission in life for us.

The Lord does, at times, provide us with these supernatural experiences. He provides us with these experiences in order to move us out of our set ways of life and move us to a life which is sold out completely for the King. We ought not to be like those two disciples, on the road to Emmaus, who were still living out of the old paradigm.

Angelic appearances cause fear - Luke 1:11-12 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. (12) And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

God took Zacharias through this supernatural encounter for the purpose that He had to accomplish through him.

Mary had the experience of the supernatural visitation.

Luke 1:28-29 And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" (29) But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.

Mary was troubled at the saying of the angel but that experience was necessary for God’s purpose.

Let us not be those seeking miraculous experiences in order to believe. Let us be those, who are eager to respond to God, as He calls us into the life of resurrection.

The appearance of the angel had a very different effect on the soldiers guarding the tomb.

Matthew 28:2-8 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. (3) His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. (4) And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.

The guards became like dead men.

Whereas, the effect on the women was totally different. The angel(s) were gentle with the women and it was an encounter where the angels were wanting the women to be convinced of the resurrection.

(5) But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. (6) He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

The women needed to move from unbelief to faith, from death to resurrection. Praise God, these women were no more the same. They were now one with the Lord in His resurrection. They were now given a new mission. They had to make resurrection known to the disciples.

(7) And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."

The women forgot their spices and ointments that they had so carefully prepared to anoint the body of Jesus. They were now on an entirely new and exciting mission. They had to let the whole world know that Jesus is alive and that resurrection is a reality.

They ran to share the message of resurrection.

(8) So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

Resurrection throws out our old purposes and puts us on a new assignment from God. The Lord is wanting us to make known to people, who are living in darkness and death, that the light and resurrection has come in Jesus.

Thought to ponder

Resurrection, is our message to the world.
