Tue29Jun2021 - *Jesus our Passover Lamb* - _Luke 22:1-6_ - THE HATCHING OF THE PLOT TO KILL JESUS (03) – Bible reading: _I Peter 4:1-2_
We are to live no more to fulfil the desires of the flesh but for the will of God. We live by giving full access to the Holy Spirit. This Christian life is not a life of struggling and fretting but it is a life of freedom and victory in the Holy Spirit.
_Luke 22:1-2 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. (2) And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people._
The Passover was also called the feast of unleavened bread.
_Exodus 12:15 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel._
This feast of unleavened bread was highly significant for the Jews. As they ate the unleavened bread for seven days, it was a way by which they were reminded to put aside the desires and cravings of the flesh and to be set apart for God.
This is also the purpose of fasting. When we fast, we are denying ourselves the desires of the flesh so that we bring to focus, to our own understanding, that we are a people, who are set apart for God and set apart from the world.
_I Corinthians 5:7-8 Therefore *purge out the old leaven*, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For *indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us*. (8) Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, *but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth*._
Our life in Christ is about purging out the old leaven and putting on the things of God. This is what Christ did for us. He set apart His life in the flesh entirely for the will of the Father. This is what made *Jesus be our Passover Lamb*.
_I Peter 4:1-2 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, *arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin*, (2) that *he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God*._
To be people who are living out the will of God, we need to be those who are living the unleavened life. We are not to give room to anything of the flesh that tries to infiltrate us and dictates our choices and behaviour.
It is only in the Holy Spirit that we can live the unleavened life. This is the life that we received from Christ and He purposes for us to participate with Him in that life of being set apart from the leaven of our old life.
_Ephesians 4:22-24 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, (23) and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, (24) and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness._
We can experience the daily healing of living the unleavened life, in the Holy Spirit. This is our inheritance. This was the core understanding of the Passover feast.
For Jesus to be our sacrificial, Passover Lamb, He had to go through the experience of being set apart in His flesh, for the will of the Father. This is the experience that Jesus gives to us.
_Romans 8:2-4 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (3) For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, (4) that *the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit*._
We can meet the righteous requirement of the law by our life in the Holy Spirit.
_Galatians 5:16-18 I say then: *Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh*. (17) For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. (18) But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law._
It was because Jesus became our Passover Lamb, His blood made the angel of death to Passover us and we were not cut off from God.
*Thought to ponder*
```This life in the Holy Spirit is what we bless one another with, in the body of Christ.```
