Mon28Jun2021 - *We are made righteous before God* - _Luke 22:1-6_ - THE HATCHING OF THE PLOT TO KILL JESUS (02) – Bible reading: _Isaiah 53:7-10_
Jesus made the way for us to be covered by His precious blood, to be made righteous before God, for there was no sin in Him. Though we say we understand what Jesus has given us, yet our comprehension is limited. How much ever is written and spoken of the work of Jesus for man, it will still not cover the immensity of God’s blessing.
Our life has to be one that is ever thrilled at the work of Jesus for us, on the cross. This message can never become stale and uninteresting for us.
_Luke 22:1-2 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. (2) And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people._
The Jewish leaders hatched a plan to kill Jesus and they were able to execute their evil agenda. Nevertheless, their wicked plan became the work by which God made Jesus be the sacrificial lamb that takes away the sin of the world.
_John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! *The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world*!_
In one sentence, John was able to bring together the entire message of Jesus to focus and clarity.
The problem of humanity and of the whole world is the problem of man’s sin by which we went our own way and we refused to be yielded and submitted to the lordship of Christ over us. The whole of humanity and the whole world is now experiencing the consequences of our rebellion by the pandemic and other destructions.
*Sin, which is the root cause of man’s and the world’s ailment has to be settled, has to be taken away, has to be cleaned out*. It was only by the sacrificial death of Jesus for us, which we appropriate by faith, that we can be cleansed and healed from the problem of sin. If Jesus had not sacrificed Himself for us, man and the world have no hope.
The Passover feast was a celebration of the redemption that God provided. The angel of death passed over the homes, where the blood of the lamb without blemish, was painted on the doorposts. Jesus connected the Passover celebration with His crucifixion.
_Matthew 26:2 “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."_
All that was prophesied about Jesus, took place.
_Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet *He opened not His mouth*; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So *He opened not His mouth*._
_Matthew 27:12-14 And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, *He answered nothing*. (13) Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?" (14) But *He answered him not one word*, so that the governor marveled greatly._
Jesus never sought to defend Himself but submitted Himself to the plan of the Father, for Him to be killed as the sacrificial Lamb
_Isaiah 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. (9) And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, *Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth*._
_I Peter 2:22-24 “*WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH*”; (23) who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; (24) *who Himself bore our sins in His own body* on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed._
_I John 3:5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and *in Him there is no sin*._
_Isaiah 53:10 *Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin*, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And *the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand*._
_II Corinthians 5:21 For *He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us*, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him._
Today, we enjoy the blessing of the blood of Jesus that covers us and has made us righteous before God. This we appropriate by faith when we come to Jesus. We acknowledge that we are sinners and that we deserve to be eternally cut off from God, but because of the intervention of Jesus for us, by becoming our substitute and sacrifice, we are cleansed from our sin, by His blood. It is the blood of Jesus that makes the angel of death to Passover us and we remain in relationship with God.
The Passover feast was not only a celebration of the blood that made the angel of death to Passover but it also involved that no leavened bread was eaten at this time.
_Exodus 12:15 *Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses*. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel._
_I Corinthians 5:7-8 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For *indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us*. (8) Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth._
We tend to take this message, as though it is too well known but this message must always cause us immense joy and delight.
*Thought to ponder*
```The old old message. It is ever true.```
