(Welcome to my website: valentinedavidar.in)

Acts 17:4 And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas.

People make many choices related to their business, career, studies, marriage, children's future, accommodation, food, sports, health, investment, entertainment, pleasure, church, commitments, voluntary service, and so forth. These are the things that consume people's time and energy.

People also seek a relationship with God as a means to ensure that all the other pursuits in life do not go wrong. The end goal is the success of all the pursuits of life, and a spiritual encounter with God must fulfil this agenda. Whereas the Gospel is not offering a success formula. The Gospel is calling to know the Truth, and the Truth will set people free. John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. (32) And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The Gospel calls people to come to Christ. It is in Christ that all things consist. Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (16) For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (17) And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Jesus makes it clear to man as to what is expected from a person who chooses to follow Christ. Matthew 16:24-25 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. (25) For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Jesus is calling us to lose our lives for Him, and in doing so we will find life. This is an overwhelming place for people to come. Many will choose not to follow Jesus. Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. (14) Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Yet God calls people to enter by the narrow gate.

There is pasture when we enter by the narrow Gate. That narrow Gate is Jesus. John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. / Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. The majority will choose the easy and broad way of life, but the end is destruction. Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. / II Thessalonians 1:8-10 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. (9) These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, (10) when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

Knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade people with all earnestness to choose life. II Corinthians 5:10-11 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (11) Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

The message of Jesus is to place before people the choice between life and death. Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; / John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Jesus is the chief cornerstone. Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: 'THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED HAS BECOME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE. THIS WAS THE LORD'S DOING, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES' ? It is also the stone that will crush people. Matthew 21:44 And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

Learning: We persuade people to place their faith in Jesus
